New Delhi, August 2025 – C Vijayakumar, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of HCLTech, has officially become the highest-paid CEO among Indian IT companies for the financial year 2024–25. According to the company's latest annual report, his total compensation reached an impressive ₹94.6 crore, marking a significant milestone in executive pay within the Indian tech sector.

Salary Breakdown: What Makes Up the ₹94.6 Crore

The total remuneration includes various components:

  • Base Salary: ₹15.8 crore

  • Performance-Linked Bonus: ₹13.9 crore

  • Restricted Stock Units (RSUs): ₹56.9 crore

  • Additional Bonus: ₹1.7 crore

Based in the United States, Vijayakumar’s pay saw a 7.9% increase compared to the previous financial year, showcasing both his importance to the company and HCLTech’s expanding global ambitions.

Huge Pay Gap Revealed

The report highlights a stark contrast between top executive earnings and average employee pay. While the CEO’s salary rose by nearly 8%, the average salary hike for HCLTech employees (excluding top management) was only 3.1%. More notably, his earnings were 662.5 times the median employee salary, bringing attention to income disparity within the organization.

Bigger Pay Package on the Horizon

HCLTech's board has greenlit an even larger compensation package for Vijayakumar for the next fiscal year. His salary is set to rise to $18.6 million (approximately ₹154 crore). This new term as CEO and Managing Director will begin on September 1, 2025, and continue until March 31, 2030.

Industry Reactions

Industry analysts say such executive pay reflects the increasing importance of global leadership and innovation in maintaining India’s IT edge. While such packages are common in Silicon Valley, they remain rare in Indian corporate circles, making Vijayakumar’s pay a standout moment in India Inc.
