🚧 Mumbai’s Harbour & Trans-Harbour Rail Services Disrupted Amid Overnight Mega Block
Mumbai, August 10, 2025 — Commuters on Mumbai’s suburban rail network faced significant disruptions this weekend as Central Railway executed a special midnight mega block across the Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines. The block was part of a major infrastructure upgrade, including the commissioning of a new Electronic Interlocking system at Vashi station and the casting of a road overbridge slab on the Trans-Harbour corridor.
🕒 Block Timings & Affected Routes
- Harbour Line (Vashi Station): Blocked from 12:45 am to 10:45 am on Sunday
- Trans-Harbour Line (Thane–Turbhe): Services suspended from 12:30 am to 5:30 am
- Kalyan–Ambarnath–Badlapur: Overnight traffic and power block until 6:55 am for girder work
🚆 Train Schedule Changes
- First Down Local: CSMT to Panvel at 10:10 am
- First Up Locals: Vashi to CSMT at 10:55 am, Panvel to CSMT at 10:33 am
- Special Services: Operated between CSMT and Mankhurd during the block
Several trains were short-terminated or originated from alternate stations:
- Belapur–CSMT local at 11:16 pm terminated at Vadala Road
- Panvel–CSMT services at 10:35 pm, 10:58 pm, and 11:13 pm also ended at Vadala Road
- Sunday morning services began from Nerul, Vashi, or Belapur instead of usual stations

A Central Railway spokesperson emphasized the importance of these maintenance blocks:
“These mega blocks are essential to ensure network safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability of our infrastructure. We request passengers to bear with us for the temporary inconvenience.”
